| The reactive power/voltage optimization is an effective measure to reduce power losses, keep voltage stability, improve power system safety and economy. It is a non-linear, multi-variable multi-constrain and multi-objective optimization problem. After summarizing and analyzing the usual reactive power/voltage optimization methods of power system, the paper establishes a mathematical model with the objective of the system losses, voltage quality, and reactive flow distributing.The genetic algorithm is a kind of self-adapting optimization method based on the mechanics of natural selection and evolution. It is appropriate to deal with the discrete and multi-variable combined optimization problem. The paper introduces the basic theory and mathematical foundations of genetic algorithm. Then the improved genetic algorithm is adopted to solve the reactive power/voltage optimization problem. The improved method is applied to the IEEE 14 buses power systems. The test result shows that the improved genetic algorithm is effective and reliable to solve reactive power/voltage optimization. |
