Now, with the overwhelming advent of the information age, the theory of Concurrent Engineering (CE), which is aiming at speeding up the developing period of product design and taking a global view of the every aspect of the whole product life cycle, has become ever more highlighted in the academic circles and building design firms.After the characteristics of the concurrent design process for building product were analyzed and the related requirements and aims for process modeling were given in this paper, a well-known modeling tool named IDEF was used to model and analyze the concurrent design process for building product and consequently the argument that the vital issue of concurrent design for building product is to build up the building product data model was demonstrated. Then, according to the theory of concurrent engineering (CE), the contents, the functions, the methods and the elementary configuration of the integrated concurrent design for building product were given before the building product data model was studied. With regard to the characteristics of the concurrent design process of building product, a tool called design structure matrix (DSM) based on task dependency was introduced to build up its related models which then was planed, simulated and analyzed.With an application environment specifically, the implement method of concurrent design for building product and then some recapitulated experience on it was presented finally.
