A new method which based on the principle of inertia to measure the torsional vibration of rotor is built in the article , and the instrument measuringtorsional vibration correspondingly according to the method has been designed and built.The instrument measuring torsional vibration is formed by shaft , inertia ring,elastic flakes, resistance strain gauges mainly. The basic principles of the instrument is to transform the signals of the torsional vibration of rotor to the dynamic strain signals through the elastic flakes and measured by the resistance strain gauges.The reinforcement and compensation and multiple channel redundancy of signals are realized by using space symmetric structure of resistance strain gauges.The method which based on the principle of inertia measuring the torsional vibration of rotor has been verified by experiment, experimental results show that frequency of the signals of the dynamic strain produced by the elastic flakes are the same with the torsional vibration ,and the amplitude of it have been enlarged in proportion.The experiments have verified Feasibilities and advantages of the method , which has the characteristics of high sensitivity and accuracy.The article also has analyzed the causes of the torsional vibration and the calculation of the intrinsic frequency of the rotor briefly and has introduced the current methods in measuring the torsional vibration of rotor .
