With the development of machines towards high speed and high precision, more and more concerns are shown to the reliability of mechanisms, so it is of great importance to probe more practical, more convenient, more accurate, and more economic methods for reliability analysis. In the paper some meaningful research has been done in this field.A unified dynamic model is developed by combining two-state model with step function, which describes the separation and collision processes of the linkage mechanism with clearance connections. According to the mathematic model, dynamic simulation model is set up based on simulation tool SIMULINK, which suggests a new method for dynamic analysis of complex mechanisms. In order to indicate the whole process, slider-crank with clearance connections is given as an example.By comparing the dynamic characteristics of mechanisms with different clearances, different rotating speed, different damp, different rigidity, some important conclusions are drawn, which not only show the bad effects clearances have on the stability of mechanisms, but the methods to reduce the effects as well.Reliability simulation model is developed based on simulation tool SIMULINK and Monte Carlo method. Statistic and reliability analysis are made and the way to improve reliability is proposed.
