Relay Multimedia Training Software Design And Development

Protective relay is one of the prime automatic security equipments in power system. Its regular and correct operation is important to ensure the power system's operational security, stability, reliability and economy. The reliability of protective relaying equipment in power system is not only out of its principle, location and producing quality. Further more, it is also related to the following aspects such as design, installation, debugging, setting, operational level and the grasp level of the spot operation workers to the theory, connection, setting fundamental and debugging methods, also closely to their operational and manage level. Therefore, strengthening the relay operation worker's technique training, and their operational and manage level are benefit to improve the security, stability, reliability and economy of the power system.Along with the development of the computer technique, the application of the multimedia is more and more extensive. And its important application field is Computer Assisted Instruction which is more and more favorable by education group. Relay protection domain is a discipline of the highly requisition of theory and technology. It involves expanded contents and many knowledge objections, with high comprehension. The traditional teaching and training mode is of weak expression, and it is hard to describe the complex procession and theory. To compensate the shortage of the training method, in this improved way the learner study the relay included technology to grasp the basic skill of the running and sustaining of the power system. This paper combines with the cooperating research project between Shandong University andNARI-RELAYS Electric CO.LTD to develop the multimedia training software of the whole set RCS-985 generator-transformer block protection. This software combines multimedia technology and protective relaying training course lively. Its contents include NARI-RELAYS introduction, production introduction, equipment introduction, protective relaying theory, debugging & operation maintenance, and protective relay operation demo. The images of protection logic diagrams, protection sets and so on were scanned by scanner and processed using PhotoShop. The video in the courseware is produced by an experienced cameraman and clipped into the courseware using a nonlinear editing system. Animation is produced by Flash. In navigation patterns, section page turning and scroll bar tree view are designed and upbuilt. Learners can expediently use.The multimedia training software, designed in this paper, is the first training software, which is offered to user by protection set manufacturer. This system has many advantages such as complete structure, self-contained functions, excellent interactive performance, and rational organizing form for training information, vivid navigation and strong pertinence for multimedia material. Therefore, it's a useful try to the production of high grade multimedia training software. Now, the training software has been delivered to the company in use. The training software is proved to have excellent practical value and training effect.
