This paper is mainly focused on detecting the space position of the object in Magnetic Stereotaxis System (MSS). The design and construction of the magnet are summarized, the hardware and software for detecting the space position of the object for the MSS are described in details, the results of the experiment are reported. The magnet used for present MSS is a double-pancake type magnet with a linear gradient field distribution. The method of "double pancake"can solve the technical problems during magnet winding. Based on common-camera computer vision, we combine computer software and image acquisition to detect the space position of target object. Briefly, we use double CCD of computer vision to detect the space position of a small permanent pellet in the Magnetic Stereotaxis System. The computer vision is a developing subject and its theory is getting better and better. There are many applications in the industry measurements, but almost of those applications and studies are restricted in the model of uprightly-camera, then the study of common-camera computer vision is very important. For the space position, the algorithm of computer vision mainly includes: camera calibration, pre-process of image and feature distill, feature matching, three-dimensional size measurement and space reconstruction. In order to satisfy the requirements of space position for the Magnetic Stereotaxis System, an on-line measuring system of double matrix CCD in VC++6.0 was developed. This system implements those functions: image gathering, digital image processing, feature distilling, three-dimensional reconstructing of the target space position. The target movement route is shown on the monitor. And then the space position is transferred to the next control system which controls the target to move in a certain route. The arithmetic, frame of the software system and implementation of software are described in the paper. The experiment results show that our space position system is acceptable for present MSS.
