It trends to make large-scale power systems interconnecting in our country in order to meet the fast load increasing in ecomonic way. Because of weak electric connection section in large-scale power system and huge transmission power in long-distance chain style transmission, however, the oscillation instability resulted from insufficient damping has to be paid more attentions. It is an important task for engineers finding suitable simulation tools to study dynamic stability characteristics of interconnected systems.For the actual need of large-scale power system small signal stability, a systematic and deep study in this field is carried out in this thesis. The main contributions are as follows:1. In order to do with the difficulty of eigenvalue analysis of large-scale power system, using for reference the latest algorithm and software, implicitly restarted Arnoldi algorithm is adopted. Through using sparse technology, the software solves the problem of simulation generator dimension limits in the old version program, the losing eigenvalue problem is also resolved. The software is adapted to large-scale power system dynamic simulation. It has good effect on time-domain and frequency-domain compare study; it also improves analysis efficiency largely.2. A modeling method using oriented-object thought is built, which is used in actual power system small signal stability analysis. This method uses object combination to setup the system based on power system dynamic component model. It has clear thought and flexible model; it provides a good tool for forming system status matrix.3. "The Small Signal Stability Analysis Software for Large-scale Power System" is developed using Visual FORTRAN, Visual C++ and C++ Builder. The software realized the interface with PSD-BPA Program. The input of the software adopts the load flow file and stabilization file of PSD-BPA Program, the output of the software has text, form, mode chart and mode shape chart. This software has convenient operation and practicability, it can be used expediently to small signal stability analysis, such as low frequency mechanical-electric oscillation modes of AC/DC power systems, etc.
