Because of its high-integration, low power-consumption and flexibility, the portable instruments are widely used in all kinds of measurement and test fields. It is especially useful to examine armament in war field and outdoors without AC electrical power source. In order to change the actuality of domestic portable instrument that is of poor function and old technique, in this dissertation, the embedded technology related to the portable instruments is studied in detail. A portable instrument for data acquisition and analysis is designed and implemented. Some attempt and exploration are presented in the portable instrument design based on OMAP (Open Multimedia Application Platform). Also, the method of portable instrument design is studied, and some key technical problems are solved.1. Firstly, the system structure of OMAP is studied in detail. At the same time, the basic system structure of instrument and the development platform based on OMAP are set up corresponding the design of portable instrument.2. Because developing the embedded technology of OMAP system is crucial to research and manufacture portable instrument, the key mechanisms related to BSP (Board Support Package) of OMAP, such as booting, interruption and memory management, are studied deeply. Some examples about portable instrument design are provided.3. ARM925 is good at control and C55x is good at digital signal processing. These two cores are integrated in OMAP. In order to harmonize the process of dual core, two methods used for data exchange are analyzed and compared. And the transmission and management of message used for task synchronization is studied in detail.4. Appling the OMAP embedded system into portable instrument design is described. A portable instrument for data acquisition and analysis is designed and implemented. Also, several crucial technical problems, such as sampling, processing, displaying, keyboard management, are solved.
