The Design & Development Of Vehicle-mounted Multimedia Computer Based On Au1200^TM Embedded Processor

The Vehicle-mounted Multimedia Computer (VMC) is a burgeoning electronic application system developed from the computer control technology, modern information technology and automobile electronic equipment technique. The most domestic VMC applications can only provide simple functions with lower integretion but in relatively high price. Following the development trend of the VMC, and based on the domestic market situation, an all-around solution to the problem is proposed in this paper, which integrates these functions by the Au1200 + Windows CE.This paper describes the key technologies, hardware and software design and realization of the VMC. In the design process, the MIPS32-architecture-based Au1200 SOC is functioned as the CPU of the system, while the Windows CE OS is selected as the software development platform, so that the system can meet the high performance, high integration, but low power requirement. The main functions of the system are as follows:1) Comfortable-driving function: A comfortable and convenient assistant driving system, such as CCS, GPS, Backup-vedio.2) Multmedia-entertainment function: An enjoyment of multimedia, such as movie, mp3, DVD/CD, FM/AM.3) Internet-communication function: An E-based vehicle can make passengers on-line on the way, such as GPRS, wifi.4) Security function: The maximum security protection for all the passengers by the active preventive system, such as TPMS, ABS.The paper discussed the following significant designs:I. By the particular analysis and comparation of the available design&realization schemes of VMC, Au1200+FPGA is finally adopted to meet the requirement of capability and flexibility. The paper expatiates on the design process of the hardware platform based on Au1200 microchip, especially on the functional circuitry.II. By the particular analysis and comparation of the prevailing consumable OS: Windows CE vs. Linux, Windows CE OS is chosen in order to meet the need of stability and functionality. The paper expatiates on the building process of the OS-image by the Windows CE IDE, such as the development of drivers, YAMON and applications. III. The paper expatiates on the UI design and realization of the system. It contains the design principle, the UI design scheme and the realization of it.In the end of paper, the characteristic of this system is summarized by the test results. And the prospective design of future version is expected.
