Excavation Subgrade Defects In The Loess Region Analysis And Prevention Measures Studied

Loess is distributed extensively in China, which is thickest ,most intact ,most developed in the northwest geologic strata. The characteristics of northwest loess are representative. Many highway distresses often appear in the loess excavation section because the collapsible property of loess.Firstly, this paper discusses the engineering properties of loess and the factor which influence them, then the treatment measures of collapsible loess are proposed. Based on extensive investigation of the highway distress in loess excavation section, the causes of distress are analyzed, and research on subgrade treatments is conducted, including reasonable slope section design, the road bed treatment measures, protection projects and drainage in loess excavation section.
