Strengthening reinforced concrete structures with carbon fiber reinforced polymer, as a rising strengthening method and advanced technique, has developed rapidly in the filed of rehabilitation since its beginning. But there is still no perfect theory research of strengthening to steer the practical project, especially in the field of CFRP plate. Therefore, the perfect theory research of strengthening is an urgent problem to be resolved.The systemic research work of strengthened reinforced concrete beam with carbon fiber reinforced polymer plate has been performed in this paper. The conclusion shows that the intensity of the beam has been remarkably improved but the stiffness is only a little; The correlation curve of rebar and CFRP plate shows that CFRP plate works after rebar's yield, In order to achieve the best strengthening purpose, the task had better perform in the state of no-load, or prestress CFRP plate; The result of strain along section shows the distortion comply with plane rule which is the gist for engineering.Four failure modes of reinforced concrete beams strengthened with CFRP plate were obtained from the research result, the effective theory formula for each mode through analyzing the failure modes were deduced, and effective measures have been taken to avoid the disadvantage of each mode and to make the best of CFRP plate.After analyzing every factor, some effective methods were brought forward; Because of the exclusive of debonding failure, the analysis of this failure mode was specially put forward, in the end, the comparing of the theory result and the experiment result shows that the formula is effective for the performance.
