Kashi Engineering Properties Of Saline Soil Test Study

The factors controlling behavior of salt expansion are soil, water, salt, temperature and pressure. In the paper, the representative crude saline soil samples (Kashi, Sinkiang, P. R. China) were selected for the experiment of freezing and thawing cycles in our laboratory. Based on the results of testing saline soil samples of twelve places, the salt expansion laws of three kinds of representative crude saline soil samples were concluded ,and formulas describing the ratio of salt expansion with freezing and thawing cycles were put forward. The moving pattern of water and salt with different freezing and thawing cycles was showed by the experimentation of water and solute migration. By shear-strength testing, the strength changeable characteristic of salt soil were analyzed, and further researches of mechanisms and influences of salt expansion have also been done in the paper. The research conclusions provide scientific basis for preventing highway disasters in the region of saline soil.
