Ferrule of Optical Fiber Connector is a device used to connect two fibers , it is very important for connective precision,the surface topography and the geometrical parameters of the ferrule end-face are the key factor, which affecting the performance of connector and the stability of fiber optic system. Therefore it is necessary to measure the surface topography and the key geometrical parameters to provide the details of polishing, including: 3-D and 2-D imaging, radius of polishing, apex-offset, fiber height etc, and give a qualitative evaluation. This dissertation is aimed at the new methods and technique for measuring the 3-D surface topography of micron level regions, especially at the related algorithms and software technology. With the Phase-shifting technique to obtain the surface topography based on the Mirau type microscope interferometer system, we completed system algorithm design and the interface software .This dissertation is composed of five chapters as follows:Chap. 1: The background of carrying out this dissertation. The main current statue 3-D surface measure methods for the Ferrule of Optical Fiber are summarized. Then the major objective, works and significance of this dissertation are outlined.Chap. 2: The fundamental theoretics of the geometrical parameters measuring and phase-shifting interferometry is introduced.The geometrical parameters measuring algorithmi includeds three parts: the definition and description of the geometrical parameters, the 3D reconstruction, and the fundamental theoretics and realization of the geometrical parameters measuring algorithm applied in this dissertation. The later involves piezoelectricity micro-displacement software control technique, and phase-unwrapping algorithms that will be researched deeply in Chap 3.Chap. 3: Phase unwrapping, the key technology of the phase-shifting interferometry technology, is introduced. Otherwise, the Flynn's Minimum Discontinuity Approach is introduced and realized in the dissertation. Further more, the experiment result is showed and analysedChap. 4: The system software of this interferometer are designed.Firstly,we design the total function frame,then, the image collection subroutine,the display subroutine, the file manage subroutine, the test subroutine, the calculation subroutine are designed respectively.atlast, the operation based on the software human-computer interaction interface is introduced.Chap. 5: The experimentation about the parameters measurement technology and related image processing algorithms, the results of the test part and the corresponding analysis are given, then the conclusions are made, and the further improvements in the future are also proposed.
