Mega-sub frame controlled structural system is a new form of super tall buildings, which is combined with structure passive control theory and conventional mega-structure system. The mega-sub frame controlled structural system is more complex than the conventional structure especially on dynamics characteristic, mechanism of wind vibration destroy, mechanical analyses and structure design. Our research team has explored the optimize of structure parameters, mechanical properties on load of wind vibration and vertical earthquake, active and hybrid control of wind vibration response of this mega-sub frame controlled structural system. On the base of those, the farther mechanical analyses and the semi-active control for wind-induced vibration of mega-sub frame controlled structural system by using magnetorheological (MR) damper were investigated in this paper.By analyzing the dynamics characteristic of mega-sub frame controlled structural system, the parameters of mass, damp, stiffness matrix were calculated and the vibration controlling equation of the construction system subjected to random wind loads was established via floor model. According to the simulation theory of multiphase random process swatch, the practical fluctuating winds loads of mega-sub frame controlled structural system subjected to two different loads were simulated. Based on the results of others scholars and mechanical characterization of magnetorheological fluid (MRF), the conformation characterization, working principle and damp characterization of magnetorheological damper were studied and the machinery parameters of the MR damper were designed. At last, based on the numerical analyses, systematic studies of the semi-active control theory for wind-induced vibration of mega-sub frame controlled structural system by using MR damper were performed in order to optimize the control system by comparative method.The results of numerical analyses indicate that the displacement and accelerationresponses of semi-active controlled structure system are decreasing markedly. The decreased ratio (Var) of displacement and acceleration at the top floor of mega structure are 27.2% and 57.72%, respectively. On the other hand, the Var of displacement and acceleration ai the top floor of the second and the third sub-structure are 49.84% and 58.31%, respectively. If the top of sub-structure is set as MR damper, those roles of controlling are more effective. In conclusion, the above results demonstrate that the semi-active control for wind-induced vibration of mega-sub frame controlled structural system by using magnetorheologica damper is very effective, the displacement and acceleration responses can be controlled at the same time.
