The automobile chassis dynamometer playing an important role in the vehicle test line is considered in this paper. Chassis dynamometer is large indoor testing equipment for quantified performance parameters through the simulation of driving resistance in the status of the roads, It can be used for test the inputs of the vehicles, fuel economic analysis, vehicle exhaust emission analysis and so on. In recent years, due to the technological improvement, as well as the requirements of States for enhancing vehicle performance and enact the relevant standards. Chassis dynamometer control systems set higher requirements.This paper discusses the work principle and basic structure of chassis dynamometer. The control system of chassis dynamometer is used as main content and analyzed. The flaw of control pattern is analyzed and introduced .The control system of chassis dynamometer possesses many characteristic, such as non-linearity, large time lag, time-varying and non-accurate mathematic model and so on. It is difficult to obtain perfect control performance when we adopt conventional PID controller, hence we should find new fuzzy control strategy. It is particular to research into Fuzzy Logic, Fuzzy Control and Neural Network in the paper. Fuzzy Logic Controller is also designed in the paper. Software fuzzyTECH could be used to create a fuzzy logic system and then NeuroFuzzy development tool and sample data to train and optimize the fuzzy logic system. At last fuzzyTECH can generate C programming language code to be used in your application. SPComm control is used for serial port communications under Delphi environment. The software design based on the software fuzzyTECH is completed. A test and control software system uses in automobile chassis dynamometer was investigated and manufactured with Delphi 7.0.The experimentation results demonstrate that Fuzzy Control better than PID control in control of chassis dynamometer. The paper illustrates the main advantages of fuzzyTECH, which include easy designing, high precision and good visual effect.
