The vacuum circuit breaker is a kind of switch equipment which is used in the middle-voltage field in the power system, which undertakes double tasks of controlling and protecting. It can open and shut and bear the normal electric current of the operating return circuit. It also can open and shut and bear the limited overload electric current within stipulated time. Vacuum killing arc room is the " heart " of the vacuum circuit breaker. It takes on the important task of the electric arc controlled and the electric current on and off. According to the vacuum electric arc theory, we can change the vacuum killing arc room touch head structure to produce magnetic field between the touch head interval when it is turned on and off to ensure the ability of opening and shutting the short circuit current. The vacuum killing arc room has been the mainstream and future developing aspect in middle-voltage switch field because it has fully utilized the excellent characteristic of the insulation and killing arc of the vacuum .This thesis mainly introduces the developing course of the vacuum killing arc room possessing the cup form horizontal magnetic field in detail.Chapter one of the thesis introduces the vacuum structure, operation principle and electric arc characteristic of the vacuum killing arc room concisely, and retrospected the development of the vacuum killing arc room briefly, and indicated the research purpose and meaning of thesis at the same time. Chapter two introduces the design process and manufacturing technology of the vacuum killing arc room possessing cup form horizontal magnetism touch head structure. Electric magnetic field finite element, an analytical soft of Ansoft Company, and MSC non-linear finite element, an analytical soft of Marc of Company, have been adopted to analyze the distribution state of the horizontal magnetic field between the touch heads, electric field intensity distribute state and temperature rise situation which the touch head produced.
