The vertical/horizontal conversion machining center can be widely used by processing the remaining five sides except the positioning bottom surface in one setup.The vertical/rear conversion head,one of its main functional components,plays a vital role in processing quality and precision.The domestic vertical/horizontal conversion heads are mainly imported from abroad,while the self-produced vertical/horizon conversion heads are large,the structure is backward,the cost is high,and the space is large.Therefore,it is of great strategic significance to develop a vertical/horizontal conversion head that can be independently produced.This paper takes the XH7960 vertical horizontal conversion machining center produced by Qinghai Huading Equipment Manufacturing Co.,Ltd.as the foundation,and designed a milling head capable of automatic vertical/horizontal conversion through numerical control system control,used a set of servo motors in continuous in the automatic machining process,by switching the control mode,both the cutting process and the indexing can be performed to realize the functional components of the milling head vertical/horizontal conversion.The details are as following:1.Completed the structural design of the spindle components.Focused on the selection of the spindle motor,the support and positioning of the drive shaft,the spindle,the components,the selection of the bearing,the rigidity of the shaft,and the precise positioning structure after the vertical/horizontal transformation was designed and studied.2.The software such as Solidedge is applied to the design of the vertical/horizontal conversion structure,and the vertical/horizontal conversion head is modeled in three dimensions.The structural model was simplified for the convenience of analysis.3.The modal analysis of the main shaft was carried out using Abaqus,and the bearing and bevel gear structure were modeled and analyzed using Romax.According to the analysis results,the spindle speed setting was reasonable,and the bevel gear meshing met the design requirements.4.The samples of the designed vertical/horizontal conversion head were tested and analyzed,and the performance parameters such as stiffness,temperature rise,rotation accuracy,noise and vibration were collected and analyzed,and the samples were determined to meet the national standards.
