Now, there are some problems on degree of automatization,low reliability, belated data,and low precision measurement of monitoring about settlement on soft-soil ground in expressway in our country. So author brings forward a new style of research project of settlement instrument on the basis of embedded technology,advanced sensing technology,network technology. Some works have been done as follows:1. On the basis of consulting a great of referenced literature about home and abroad, a new style of project which is based on superior draw-wire displacement sensors and embedded technology on ARM7 is designed.2. The overall design of instrument is achieved, including mechanical system and circuit system.Mechanical system includes mechanical structure design of exploring head, measuring and controlling box. Circuit system includes the least system of S3C44BOX automatic gathering system, man- machine vision system, circuital schematic diagram and PCB design of communications system.and completion of correlative function drive software.3. A sort of applied entironment on the basis of operating system uC/OS- II of embedded mode and real time and embedded μC/GUI is designed.It achieves design and application of system software entironment such as system start-up and loaded program Boot Loader, transplant of uC/OS- II, μC/GUI graphic software application and so on,which afford laconic and intuitionistic man - machine vision for instrument.4. Demarcating tests of measuring and controlling system are finished.Draw-wire displacement sensors is the heart of instrument, which using measuring length machine of one meter makes demarcating experiments of 0—1 meter, and which using dynamic calibrating instrument makes demarcating experiments of 0~10 meters. Measuring contrast tests of 0~ 10 meters obtain some important precision indicators of instrument through settlement instrument,and some significative conclusions are obtained through the analyse of the key of instrumental technology parameter.5. The model of instrument is finished, the resolving power of instrument is:0.25mm, the scale of measurement is 0-10m.This settlement instrument advances precesion, efficiency and degree of automatization of monitoring about soft-soil ground settlement, improves the environment of monitoring,and lightens the intensity of labor for workers.However, it needs further study on mathematical models of trigger collimation and so on in future.
