Inserting regions refers to some districts which are located in some area but do not belong to each other. The rapid development of economy and society in inserting regions put forward highway network distribution new and higher request. As a prophase work of highway construct, the highway network distribution is of terrible importance to the implement of highway system function in the future. Related with the characteristic of highway traffic in inserting regions, the paper combines research content with practical application. The process and the production have much practical value.The paper first analyzes the essential feature of the different inserting regions. On this foundation, systematically analyzes the general development characteristics of inserting regions. According to the regional distributing form of inserting regions, the relation demand will be divided into two parts, in and foreign. On the basis, the paper separately studies in and foreign relation characteristics, and then analyzes the development characteristics and the demand characteristics.Considering development demand of the different level road network, the inserting highway network will be divided into the local interior road network, the foreign radiation road network and the organization region road network. The paper analyzes the major effect factor, layout principle and the method in road network distribution. On this foundation, analyzes the interdependence of road network, such as overlaps, links up and so on. At last, studies the layout method of highway network in inserting regions.The final aim of theory research is to apply the research to the practical projects. The practice in Shihezi city main trunk network distribution has much academic and practical value.
