Portable DSO(Digital Storage Oscilloscope) is the extension and development of the conventional oscilloscope. They are more integrative, more powerful and less power consumption, as well as their portability meets the demand of the electronic instrument.In this dissertation, as the solution of the DSO, an embedded system is introduced, which is based on SOPC(System On a Programmable Chip) technology. In this project, one FPGA chip called CYCLONE is adopted, which including a microprocessor called NIOS, as the development platform. Together with the outer analog controlling circuits and LCD displaying module, they make up of the hardware system. Upon the NIOS processor, the software is written in C language, and includes real time operating systemμC/OS II. The DSO can interface with user perfectly, which includes a liquid crystal displaying of 320×240 lattices and a 4×5 matrix keyboard.The controlling digital circuits inside FPGA, are the core portion in the implementation of the DSO, while the GUI(Graphical User Interface) is the only interface between the user and the DSO, They are both the main topic of the dissertation. In the first section of this dissertation, the whole implementation solution of DSO is introduced, including some theories and some conceptions. In the second section, the design of the digital circuits inside FPGA is discussed, while the implementation of the GUI software is expatiated. At last, there are all kinds of problems and troubles encountered in the project, as well as all kinds of simulations and tests on the hardware and software are presented.DSO is an embedded system which based on the cooperate of the hardware and software, this solution reaches the designed functions and performance: double channels, bandwidth 10MHz, sample rate 100MHz, storage deep 4K, frequency detect, and so on. Electronic instruments that based on SOPC technology, for they are small, high integrative, and low cost, will have a good perspective in the future.
