Most of the highway bridges in our country were builded after establishment of China. With the rapid development of modern highway traffic, especially the universality of the increasing vehicular load and the excess freight, there have been respectable bridges aging, being damaged, and there carrying capacity have been severely reduced. Although, some bridges are incapable of continuing in service, owing to be out of repair for long time. So, it is necessary to perform fundamental test and theoretical investigation for such question as: the practical limit carrying capacity, security, deformability, failure mechanism of the prestressed concrete bridges. Then, for ensuring the safety and the clear passage of the highway, reasonable technology countermeasure and service curing criteria could be put forward, so we can take measures of advancing maintenance and reasonable reinforcement for the bridges in active service.Based on the research production, with three prestressed concrete hollow slabs from the bridge in active service for ten years, this essay studies the ultimate bearing power ,the load-bearing failure mechanism and structure reenforcement measures' influence on them, through examination of each performance index, failing load test, theoretical analysis and computing research work. With all this work, some beneficial conclusions for practical engineering are derived.1 ,The paper summarizes the questions of the prestressed concrete bridge construction in using and the correlation study development both abroad and home, and pointes out the necessity and relevance of studying the prestressed concrete hollow slab practical limit carrying capacity in active service.2, By the examining and detecting the prestressed concrete hollow slab' performance index, the hollow slab behavior of individual in service is grasped, so we can assess prestressed concrete hollow slab practical limit carrying capacity in the bridges.3 , The paper verifies the prestressed concrete hollow slab practical limit carrying capacity and security through the full size hollow slab failing load test, and grasps the...
