Asphalt mixture with skeleton dense structure has won increasing reputations by pavement engineers because of its good pavement performance. Base on the previous researches at home and abroad, this paper conducted reaches on asphalt mixture with skeleton dense structure and systematically analyzed its mechanical characteristics, the geometric and packing characteristics of the aggregate skeleton particles. The variation of coarse aggregate skeleton particles' trace in the course of loads, and the influence of aggregate characteristics on the mixture high temperature stability were also discussed in this paper. Uniform Design Method was applied to study the quantitative relationship between optimally dense situation and coarse aggregate composition. Dividing criterion between coarse and fine aggregate was set by use of Marshall Test. Coarse aggregate quantity can be identified by the dense test of the mixture. The strongest coarse aggregate skeleton was makeup by CBR test. This paper studied deeply on the coarse aggregate skeleton optimization and put forward two indexes of skeleton factor and density factor which can balance and optimize the coarse aggregate makeup with strongest and densest skeleton, conducted researchers on the evaluation methods of coarse aggregate skeleton and put forward the method of evaluating the mixture density and high temperature stability by skeleton compactness and stability of coarse aggregate. At the end of this paper, the author put forward a design method for Asphalt mixture basing on skeleton dense structure.
