The recorder is intended to record the transient data of electric power system disturbance, such as short circuit fault, power system oscillation, frequency breakdown, and voltage collapse. The data recorded include power system parameter, protective device performance, and automatic safety device performance. The sampling frequency of the recorder data acquisition system can reach hundreds of times, and we can get very particular and actual waveform of electric parameter and data. These waveform and data contain large numbers of information, and have huge analytic potential.Because of the data recorded coming from the different manufacturer or adopting the different record format, IEEE defines a common format COMTRADE (IEEE Standard Common Format for Transient Data Exchange for Power Systems). The standard realizes the unification of the fault record data, and strengths the general purpose of the fault record analytic system. In my paper, the data recorded is translated into the COMTRADE format. Fault analysis and the setting check functions are realized by programming according to the data recorded. By the fault analysis functions, the system realizes the calculation of the fault phase voltage and current, the sequence component, the system impedance, and the capacity of short circuit; and the waveform display, the selecting fault phase and distinguishing fault type. By the setting check functions, the system realizes the setting sensitivity check, the comparing setting and data storage. In the end, the paper introduces the algorithm of the decaying DC component in fault situation, and calculates the decaying DC component initial value and the decaying time constant, and gives the...
