Highway alignment is a major factor affecting road safety. From the point view of road safety to evaluate the road alignment you can find the unsafe place in the stage of the road design, remove danger that hidden in the road, so that can improve the road safety. This paper has used driving simulator to do the safety evaluation on An-Chu freeway in YunNan province from the point of the speed consistency, then amended operating speed prediction model based on that evaluation result. In our country, always use design speed to design road alignment, but because of the limitation of the road's horizontal and vertical alignment, the operating speed varies continually and has an error with the design speed. The operating speed is able to reflect the real situation of the vehicle on the road more actually. So this paper evaluated the safety of the road through the estimative method of operating speed profile mode. This paper has built an simulation platform on speed consistency using Visual Basic language, adopted corresponding operating speed prediction model to evaluate the V85 on An-Chu road, and estimated speed distributing on operating speed through driving simulator experiment, then analyzed the operating characteristic of the vehicle on the freeway of different alignment from the point of statistic. This paper has also compared the experimental speed with the predictive speed, then used the method of operating speed profile mode to analyze speed consistency based on the differentia between operating speed and design speed and the different operating speed of conjoint section. At last, the paper has brought forward the expectation speed that adapted to the highway's road alignment of the mountainous area according with the driving characters and amended operating speed prediction model grounded on acceleration.
