The power distribution system of 6~35kV has been developing at fast speed in the last years, for that, the system current of single-phase grounding fault exceeded 10A mostly, or even 50A. On the base of summarizing the domestic experiments of neutral grounding manner, the regulation about neutral grounding manner had been emended and been added in the electric industry standard DL/620-1997 which was made by Electric Power Department in 1997- "alternating electric device exceeding voltage protection and insulation fitting". It was prescribed definitely that the grounding manner through arc-suppression coil must be used when the capacitive fault current exceeded 30A, while the single-phase grounding happened in power system of 10.5kV. Nowadays, the need of the development in electric power system can not be fulfilled by using the old arc-suppression coil, whose contacts is turned by human. Based on the problem of traditional arc-suppression coil compensated system and the localization of man tuning, it is very necessary to study an automatic syntony system for the advantage of arc-suppression coil grounding manner.The arc-suppression coil grounding manner of the distribution system is vital to the quality and reliability of the power supply, and the security of the network running. The paper knew the development and the present situation of the grounding manners in foreign and internal distribution networks, and then, it presented the designing scheme of an auto-track compensating controlling device, which could not only track but also compensate the changing capacitive current in real time when the single-phase grounding fault happened in power system. It decreased the fault current to avoid the phase-to-phase fault developed from single-phase grounding fault. After analyzing the performance of the syntony system, which was running in gear condition and fault condition, this paper discussed the work principle of the arc-suppression coil and the measuring manners of the capacitive currents. Then the paper pointed out the compensating principle used in this device-signal injected manner.At last, the paper gave the hardware designing proposal and software flow chart of the arc-suppression coil controlling device, and then simulated the condition of single-phase grounding fault by Simulink simulation and simulative experiment.
