With the increase of important-large project and development of engineering construction in ocean, the research on foundation under uplift loading and development of new type foundation attract more attention. Pile-bucket foundation was a new type foundation combining the advantage of pile foundation with that of bucket foundation in ocean engineering, will be applied widely in port and offshore engineering.The research results of the uplift theory of pile foundation and bucket foundation were introduced. The analysis on transfer of uplift load in the pile-bucket foundation was conducted on the basis of research achievement of uplift bearing performance on pile and bucket. Based on a series of uplift loading model tests, make analysis on relationship between uplift-load and uplift-displacement, the destruction form and the development of slide rupture body in soil of pile-bucket foundation, and the deformation process of soil, then depict the failure mode and put forward a computing method of displacement controlling for pile-bucket foundation.Numerical simulation of finite element method for pile-bucket foundation under uplifting load were conducted by making use of ANSYS software. The study of foundation subjected to axial loading can be considered as axisymmetric problem. The nonlinear stress-strain behaviors of soils were modeled via Drucker-Prager type and associative flow rule, the foundation was treated as linear-elastic material, soil-foundation interaction was simulated via setting contact elements at interface between soil and foundation. By transforming gravity field into initial stress state on each element, the initial gravity field was carried out.The analysis of result of FEM was conducted together model test.
