Reactive power optimization is the main measure to reduce the regional power grid energy loss. According to authoritative research, the regional power grid loss rate in China still lags behind the advanced countries, and the difference is obvious. Therefore, reactive power optimization is a potential way to save energy.Currently, Reactive power and voltage optimization system running online can not really minimize the loss and reach optimal voltage level. The main reason is that in the operating mode, only measures of adjusting generation of units and switching on different form of capacitors can be used to control reactive power, so as to minimize the loss and gain the qualified voltage. However, due to not optimize the operation mode, the existing reactive power optimization can not lead to thorough optimization and minimum loss.To solve the prompted problem, we think it is important to optimize the substation's facility selection in the planning stage at first. After the facilities has run, the operation mode of every substation's main transformer is optimized, then reactive power and voltage optimization can be done under the particular operation mode by using automatic real-time data acquisition system and history data system, so the whole power grid will be economic and high-quality.
