Magnetic compass is an important device for navigation, which can provide the real-time heading and pose of the motor object and can be used in the fields of sky, ocean , vehicle orientation and so on. The present magnetic compass has some problems need to be solved such as big volume, weight , power consume, harding to debug , compensate error. At present MCU have been used extensively, so combining magnetoresistive sensor and SCM will be good for improving the performance of magnetic compass .The intention of the paper is to develop a pose compensated magnetoresistive electronic compass. After summarizing the developing direction of magnetic compass and mastering the function characteristic of magnetoresistive sensor, We introduce the circuit of the magnetoresistive electronic compass, which uses the magnetoresistive sensor HMC1052/1051Z, MEMS accelerometer and SCM ADuC842, According to the characteristic of magnetoresistive sensor, using the measuring and disposing signal function of ADuC842 to write the procedure of the system, Analyzing the error of the system and the base research on compensation principle, we use the arithmetic of 24 position error compensation based LSM to compensate and complete the magnetoresistive electronic compass finally. The experiment test shows that the compass can dynamic measure the azimuth, pitch and roll angle. The precision of the azimuth achieves ±1.5° during 0° - 360° The gesture can differentiate ±1° during -60° - +60° The compass is small volume, low weight, power consume and cost, which can be used in vehicle orientation and common navigation field after more consummation.
