The Switched Reluctance Drive System(SRD) has gained a great development as a novel kind of variable-speed drive systems since 1980. It has only a short history of several ten years, but has already won a important position in the field of electric drive due to its good performance in speed adjustment, and has a bright future. But, for Switched Reluctance Motor, in performance analysis, design and control, there are still some problems to be resolved, such as the dependence on the position sensors, comparatively serious torque ripple, vibration and noise, which limit its further application. This paper developed a control system for a 2-phase 4/2-pole SRM of 180W based on PIC16F877 microprocessor.This thesis contains six parts. The first part summarizes the development and research of SRD, discusses the operation principle and structure of SRM, and explains the main work in this paper.In part two, the paper discusses the fundamental equations and the model of SRM solution, and gains the flux linkage equation,magnetism altogether energy equation and torque equation, based on analyzing linear model and quasi-linear dynamic model. According to operating characteristics and controling theory of SRM, the control method for this system is decided.Part three does the research on the ways without sensors. In the first place the principle of indirect position sensor is presented. Then the paper acquires rotor position with the method of simplex flux linkage in terms of SRM characteristics. In the end , the program is redacted.The forth part offers SRD control system design of hardware. Firstly, the paper does the research on the structure and design of power converter, adopts MOSFETs as the power switch and designs a power converter for the SRM. Secondly, this paper the hardware design circuits of SRD control system based on PIC16F877 microprocessor. And the detailed designs include the velocity supply,current detection and fault protection etc. Because of the full use of the abundant internal resources of microprocessor, it comes to the aim for simplifying the circuit structure and heightening the reliability.The fifth part discusses the software designing issue and the simulation of SRD. Because of adopting the modularized programming method, the program becomes easy to transplant and understand. And based on MATLAB/Simulink, a dynamic simulation model of SRD is developed. The simulation results reflects the accuracy of the model and the mothod of control. The sixth chapter is the conclusion of the full text.
