In order to find out the engineering performance of fine-grained soil embankment and keep it's stability long time, deeply study on compaction mechanism and engineering performance needs to be carried on, and also needs to study the construction process in the reasonable rules, the compaction control methods as well as the use process maintains its intensity and the stable technical measure. In this article, around several influence factors to be main and an also more complex of fine-grained soils embankment compaction, combining the domestic and foreign related standards, relying on the Hunan Province transportation Dep. advance intechnology and the innovation project (200544)"the research of fine- grained soil embankment compaction construction engineering ", the fine-grained soil padding compaction characteristic and the compaction control have been researched deeply.With the relations between the density according to the water content, taking the soil physical property and the compaction curve as the object, the fine-grained soil compaction property and the engineering performance have been studied; In this foundation, based on analyzing the domestic and foreign compactions control standard, the suggestion control index is proposed;the beneficial research results and suggestion are obtained as below:(1) The complete compaction curve of the fine-grained soil were studied, and at the base of the insummarizes the predecessor to study the complete compaction curve characteristic and to establish 4 parameters complete compaction equation,we identify the accuracy of the equation, then analysis the influence of the equation parameters on the shape of compaction curve and its own influence factor; After discussing the relationship between the shape of the compaction curve and the soil physical properties, we build up the quantitative relationship between physical properties index of fine-grained soils and parameters of complete compaction curve equation.(2) Based on the strength tests of three kind of fine-grained soils under the work of three different resistance, including the unlimited compressive strength tests, the direct-shear tests and CBR tests (soaks in water with does not soak in water), the effects of the compaction water content, compactness, void ratio and the volume ratio of air to the strength of compacted soils are discussed, then studying the change situation of strength index with water content and its distributed condition along complete compaction curve;(3) After analyzing the effects of the water content and compactness to the deformation property, and through compressive test indoor, the relations were obtained between the load of compressive test and compactness with void ratio, and then discussing the relations between compressibility and compaction condition of compactes soils.(4) It was reasonable that compactness standard was devided according to the particle composition, based on detailed comparing the codes of our country,Japan and U.S.A.; And through the contrast analysis between the strength, void ratio, the volume ratio of air and compaction condition of three kind of fine-grained soils; It quite is reasonable that, for the freeway embankment, the fine-grained soil padding is compacted under double index control of the compactness and the air volume rate, and the suggestion control index is proposed.
