In this paper,by using laboratory compaction instrument which provides different compaction energy, under different conditions, to study the effects of different impact energy under the action of coarse grained soil on absorption of energy propagation. From the test we can obtain the density of the experimental soil sample, water content, dry density and the optimum water content.Using laboratory electric compaction device to conduct light, heavy impact test on unit of coarse grained soil based on the study of absorption of energy propagation.we can know the density, dry density, settlement of dynamic compaction, shear strength variation rule under different impact energy. Besides, we can also learn the relation curve and relation formula between the impact energy and the density, dry density, settlement of dynamic compaction, shear strength of the reinforced soil.which reflects the density, dry density, settlement of dynamic compaction and shear strength characteristics under the effect of different impact energy, namely the rules of transmission and absorbability of the impact energy in laboratory conditions.At the same time, it also reflects the dynamic impact energy during propagation in soil absorption. What’s more, this paper also undertake comprehensive summary on the consolidation mechanism of the coarse grained soil. Based on the test results, the paper also studies and analyses an example of strong rammer project, especially focuses on the analysis of the relationship between the impact energy and the settlement of dynamic compaction of the example. In addition, indoor test were compared and analyzed which verifies the results of the laboratory test.Through the inhouse laboratory investigation which is conducted on the basis of the energy absorption law and the research and analysis of comparative engineering practice, we can draw the following conclusions:(1) in the dynamic process, along with the increase of impact energy, the density, dry density and the settlement of dynamic compaction of the reinforced soil is also increased, but it will eventually converge to a certain value and remain stable. As to the light compaction test, the density, dry density and tamping settlement of the soil begin to appear convergent when cumulative impact energy rises to600N·m and cumulative energy value of heavy compaction test reaches1750N·m.(2) the energy wave transmission has relations not only with reinforced soil constraint but also with the hammer diameter and reinforced soil properties. The fact that impact energy waves in vertical spread on the absorption of an impact energy are obtained through the test.The impact must correspond to a depth of influence depth. Once impact energy waves exceed the influence depth, the energy will be unable to reach. In other words, energy wave transmission depth is limited in the dynamic process. Energy transfer in the vertical absorption has a limit value.(3)the cumulative energy value appeared when reaches the limit of compactness:under the light compaction test conditions.when the compaction degree of coarse grain soil is up to97%-100%. the total energy absorption and consumption reaches630~720N·m.If converted into unit soil energy consumption is about:557.32kN·m/(m3); in the heavy compaction test.when compaction degree is up to99%~100%. the total energy consumption reaches1746.36~2381.40N·m, which means unit soil energy consumption is800.11kN·m/(m3)~1094.19kN·m/(m3)...
