In order to estimate performance parameters of a passive millimeter wavedetector and investigate signal characteristic of a metal target, a model of brightnesstemperature of the metal target is necessary to acquire simulated data. The paperresearch is based on a problem that a millimeter wave radiometer investigates metaltarget. Before the hardware of the detector system is designed, it is necessary for amillimeter wave radiometer to do simulated equipments and to check up andinvestigate parameters. And the research of detecting target and distinguishingtechnology is important, in which different distinguishing methods of targets arecompared in order to get an optimal one. Meanwhile, some wrong or unreasonablerespect of the system of a millimeter wave radiometer maybe be found and thedesign of the system is made better. The detailed content is as follows:Firstly, the principle of a passive millimeter wave detector is introduced and itsoutput signal expression with a metal targets on ground is discussed in detail.Secondly, based on heat radicalization theory, this paper analyses atmosphereradioactive temperature, and a radiometer antenna temperature and the model ofbrightness of the metal targets are shown. Finally, an encounter status of a passive millimeter wave detector with the targetis simulated. Different simulation results are obtained from different conditions..And,a target distinguishing way is given.
