With the rapid development of the power system, power network capacity and theputting forward of the FACTS theory, breaker, one of the power system controllers, mustbe able to control the power system reliably and rapidly. This paper introduces a kindsolid breaker, which is a kind of FACTS controllers, to increase the controllability ofelectrical transmitting line and electrical transmitting network. Otherwise it also canimprove the quality of electrical transmitting and guarantee the stability and reliability ofpower system.The solid breaker makes use of power electronics converting device to constructContactless Switches which can raise the switch speed and service life of mechanicalbreaker. This paper discusses the design of power electronics converting device andemphasizes the design of driving circuit, protecting circuit and the research of series andparallel connection technology of IGBT. The paper analyses the demand of the IGBT'sdriving circuit firstly, and then discusses and compares several common IGBT's drivingcircuit and emphasizes the development on design and function of EXB841 andM57962AL driving circuit. The paper also discusses the design of the IGBT's protectingcircuits as well as the series and parallel connection technology of IGBT. In order toenhances the IGBT power capacity, some research on IGBT series and parallel technology.Considering the problem of unequal voltage and current, with the help of numbers ofsimulation and inferential reasoning, the reason of these problems is given in the paper. Atthe same time, the principle of work and efficiency of circuit with equal voltage andcurrent are discussed in the paper.Finally, the paper forecasts the development of solid breaker.
