In mechanical design work, 60% of the workload related to the standard parts, and standard parts library is a part of the graphics library. As a common graphics processing software, AutoCAD has tremendous potential, in addition to being a simple electronic drawing system. Also it can be secondly developed. If AutoCAD graphic object is linked to the relevant external database, it can be used to the bridge between AutoCAD and databases (module or procedure), it can draw flexibly and accurately, it is called parametric-driven design.AutoCAD connects to the database has an important theoretical and practical significance. The research of graphic object links to database has been a hot topic. Aimed at the characteristics that standard parts used in the project drawing are frequent, in this paper, AutoCAD is used as a platform, VBA is used as its development tool, ACCESS 2000 is used as database. Parameter-driven design process is used to establish the parameters of threaded connector library system. State parameters of the standard pieces of the database, when assembling view is drawing , runing the system can easily draw threaded connector automatically. When drawing, you can choose front view, the left view or vertical view, and the process can be repeated. As to the assembly drawings generated by changes in scaling parameters, and can be randomly placed, thereby it greatly reduces the duplication of work.improves the efficiency and quality of the drawings.The article focuses on the structure of the integrated graphics and database theory, methods, techniques and basic research, then the interface technology of hyperlinked between graphics and database, in the end, builds the application of this software. In the first chapter of the thesis, the application of AutoCAD graphics linking to database in the field of project drawing is expounded. The papers explain the background, purpose, content and significance. The second chapter deals with the technical basis of the graphic database.focusing on the data structure of AutoCAD and using ActiveX Automation graphical interface to the database. Chapter 3 describes the technical foundation for the parametal design of Worm join piece. Methods of various parametal designs are anysied. On the basis of these principles and disadvantages, the method called function formal parameter is established. Meanwhile, AutoCAD VBA is choosed as the development tool. The fourth chapter discusses interface technology of the hyperlinking between graphics to database. Based on the analysis of the graphics and database integration, the three major Object Model Objects: CAD, CAO, ADO is discussed and on the basis of the relationship among them, designs ithe user interface, the external interface, and interfaces of this system. In chapter V, on the basis of the theoretical research above, the parameters prototype system of the threaded connector parameterized design graphic database is established. Emphasis on the system development process, the key technologies such as error handling, procedures and databases, software packaging, menu designing. Chapter 6 summarizes the research papers, and the prospects for future work.
