So far, product design has changed from experience design to the optimization design based on knowledge fusion (KF) and the computational analysis based on web. The knowledge applied to the product design is no longer about one subject, but about many crossing subjects, so the KF has become an important means of the web-based virtual product design. The KF, including knowledge discovery, knowledge acquisition, knowledge reasoning, and knowledge reuse and so on, will become an indispensable part of the future product development, so the research on the KF is of important theoretical and practical significance to the development of the machinery production. The follows are the main study contents.1. Research on the mechanism of the KF, how to extract and reuse knowledge information form the existing products and uncertain knowledge fusion, and the uncertian knowledge fusion theory, and propose the methods for fusion calculation.2. Taking the design of the main parts of the labeler as application, research on the similarity of products, apply the similarity theory to reuse design, realize the calculation of similarity degree by programming, and then designer can make a choice between the absolute reuse design and the relative reuse design according to the value of the similarity degree.3. Discuss about how to embed the reusable knowledge to the product design to realize the KF, and apply the evidence theory to the KF to improve the rationality, reliability and veracity of design.At last, taking labeler as example, this paper adopts the JSP and JAVA technologies to develop a web-based design system to realize the application of the KF.
