Automatic placement is a quickly developed molding technology of composites, which has advantages of low-cost and high quality. It is mainly used to manufacture special component in the industry of aeronautics and astronautic, for example, the blade crossbeam and aerofoil. But the research of this technology is just at the beginning in china, it is very necessary to develop placement device with own intellectual property.According to the molding requirement of Z8F helicopter blade crossbeam, this paper has done some research and design of mechanism of crossbeam tape placement machine. The following task has been done:First, the composites placement motion is analyzed based on the process of wind stick; the idea of placed layer by layer is introduced. The Numerical control is applied for automated placement. The placement head is followed normal of model surface. The placement head implements placement motion by three axis interpolations of X-axis, Y-axis, and Z-axis. The interpolation method is described and the radius compensate method equipment is analyzed. The mathematic model of tension is studied.Second, design of mechanism of crossbeam tape placement machine. The placement machine is a special device to achieve the aim of placement. This paper uses the conception of integrative design, combines the necessary equipments of placement machine as placement head, which includes tap discharge equipment, film remove equipment, tension control equipment, compaction equipment and cutting equipment. In this way, by controls placement head moves in given track can achieve placement intent.Finally, establishes the three-dimensional model in Pro/Engineer and simulates the motion of crossbeam tape placement machine. It includes the motion of placement process and the motion of process of taking out the core.
