The photoelectric tracking platform is the sophisticated system integrating optics, mechanics, electronics and computer application, and key hardware system necessary to range instrumentations, E-O tracking and measuring equipment, astronomical observation instruments, aeronautical and astronautical engineering, laser communication systems, and optical acquisition, tracking and pointing systems. The system accuracies of tracking and angular measurement are largely dependent on the optical-mechanical structure design of the photoelectric tracking platform. The stationary photoelectric tracking platforms are currently getting mobile ones with its wide applications. Because the photoelectric tracking platform is a key system making the system accuracy stable and operation normal, the stringent requirements of reliability, stability and adaptation to environments must be satisfied for the platform. In order to meet the specific working environmental requirement of the mobile tracking platform it is necessary to make the system more miniature, as well as structure more reliable and simpler as much as possible. Everything possible must be done to choose a desired optical-mechanical structure of the tracking platform with the exception of ensuring that the reliable and stable designs of the optical-mechanical and electric control systems should be made in a right way. It follows that studies on miniaturization design and system reliability play a significant role in developing the mobile photoelectric tracking platform.Aiming at special operation modes and environments for the photoelectric tracking platform, the technical schemes and beam control technologies used for different system structures are discussed, and the compact and mobile photoelectric tracking platform and fully reflecting transmitting optics are designed while the theoretical analysis, prediction and associated reliability design of the tracking platform are conducted, making sure of the system reliability, stability and practicability. In addition, the system error is computed and analyzed on the basis of the error theory. The practical applications have demonstrated that various functions and tracking accuracy meet the technical specifications of the mobile photoelectric tracking platform, demonstrating the reliability and stability of the mobile platform and the validity of the error analysis.
