The increasing popularity of the portable consumer electronic device such as mobile, cell phone PDA and media player stimulates the fast growth of our domestic power management market. The continuous minimization of the portable device volume and power supply proposes the requirements of high efficiency, small volume, accurate output and small power consumption for the SMPS IC. The OLED for small & mediate device enjoys excellent market prospect which requires high efficiency, low power consumption, fast dynamic behavior, small output ripple and good line&load regulation.Based on the requirement for OLED driver, a novel control architecture is proposed in this thesis, i.e. the voltage feedback and feedforward self adaptive control system. The feedforward technology allows smaller impact from the input voltage variation and the good load regulation is realized by voltage feedback. The combination of feedforward and feedback provides the good dynamic behavior of the system. Additionally, the high output accuracy is achieved by self adaptive system.A PWM/PSM mode self adaptive boost DC/DC converter with bandgap reference, oscillator, self-adaptive controller, over current protector, DCM detector, digital controller and driver is implemented based on the architecture mentioned above, which is realized by UMC N well standard CMOS process. The input voltage and output voltage ranges from 2.7V to 5.5V and VIN+0.5V to 15V, respectively. Under the heavy load, the system will operate at PWM mode, and at the PSM under light load condition to guarantee the high efficiency. The system is verified by Hspice simulation whose result indicates that the efficiency goes up to 89%, moreover, the system exhibits the small output ripple, good dynamic behavior and load regulation.
