With the rapid development of highway traffic system in China, the traffic crash rate is keeping in a high level. The traffic safety also becomes more and more important so that people always pay attention to it. Developing the intelligent traffic system and intellectual vehicle technology is an effective measure to solve the traffic safety problem.Firstly, this thesis generally introduces the application area of the intelligent traffic system and intellectual vehicle technology at the aspect of automatic anti-collision. Secondly, according to the technical states of our country's highway , driving customs and the sensors, the vertical anti-collision warning system of automobile is designed to meet needs of China's traffic situation. Aiming at alarming the driver, it's recognized that driver's response time is enough to avoid the traffic accidents caused by neglecting or misjudging.The basis principle lies in measuring the distance from the front barrier with the checkout equipment and feedback quickly to the micro-processing system which starts out the alarming device in the form of sound and light if an emergency speed or distance is found.In the process of exploiting, based on the different situations, the model of alarming distance and braking distance is conducted and then system is built to fulfill the basic functions. On the basis of the this, the application circuits of the system is designed, such as the power apply, information collection, alarm exporting and etc., and the systematic controlling program is developed by the MCS-51 assemble language. Finally, simulation of the system in PC is conducted and the results indicate that the system can realize different forms of alarming when the alarming distance is larger than the safe braking distance.
