Photoelectric theodolite is based on optical measurement equipment,could make record of the track and characteristics of flying objectives by taking phptography,measuring and gathering information from it .With the development of modern technology and higher requirements of photoelectric theodolite ,the new photoelectric theodolite is required integrated performance such as ,not limited to multi-function, high positioning accuracy ,and prompt response. And also other aspects should be comply with new requirements, including size, shape etc. The new model of Photoelectric theodolite with above functions is strongly required to be developed in future.In this paper we introduces one new small design of photoelectric theodolite with altitude-azimuth & U-shaped structure, this new module includes all key technical requirements and represents guiding ideology of modularization and miniaturization. At first, the paper includes a detailed description on working & measuring principle of the new model and technical requirements. Secondly,To the design requirements of photoelectric theodolite,It researches optical performance and precision of a shaft which shall affect technical performance of this new model.This research focus on drawing of struction,describe the relevant technologies of design.and calculate and design the key components of the rack-vertical shaft, the shaft and levels. Finally,this paper analyse strength and stiffness of the key parts of the finite element against Finite Element Analysis Theory and the impact on the complete machine ANSYS software .Thereby it is proved that this new model Photoelectric theodolite will meet the general design requirements.This new small photoelectric theodolite has been passed indoor interior detection and directly applied to optical measurement range and got highly appreciated from final user. The theory and the analysis results of this paper could supply references to the same type of equipment.
