With the rapid growth of urban vehicles and road traffic congestion, Global Positioning System (GPS) positioning technology-based vehicle navigation technology has been rapidly developed. But in urban skyscrapers, flyovers, runnels and other special areas, GPS positioning information is often interrupted, or positioning accuracy greatly reduced. To make the vehicle navigation system to meet the requirements of precision and continuity, people take supplementary measures to compensate for the deficiencies of GPS positioning.First of all, this paper compares the advantages and disadvantages of Dead-Reckoning (DR), Inertial Navigation System (INS) and GPS navigation positioning system. Then, the GPS/DR vehicle integrated navigation system which is based on magnetoresistive sensor is designed. This system takes the Kalman filter as core algorithm to fuse data so that the positioning accuracy and system reliability can be improved. The hardware system of this paper mainly contains C8051F020 system chips, which are used as core chips in this system, and modules of serial interface connection, power section, as well as the signal generating and conditioning circuit of magnetoresistive sensor and gyroscopes. Odometer signal conversion circuit and A/D conversion circuit are also included in this system. The programming and debugging of the software system are carried out after accomplishing the hardware system. In order to verify the performance of the vehicle integrated navigation system which is based on magnetoresistive sensor, the system is simulated and the results are analyzed. The results show that the positioning accuracy of integrated navigation system can be greatly improved. Finally, this paper comes to a conclusion and gives several suggestions about next work.
