On the basis of consulting extensive literature data,combined with the key sci-tech project of Hunan Science and Technology Department "Research on Characteristics and Construction Technologies of High Fill Embankment on Mountainous Slope Foundations",using full scale model experiments and analyzing through Fast Lagrangian Method,this paper studies the strength,stability calculating method,deformation characteristics,failure mechanism of geosynthetic reinforced embankment,and the influence of geosynthetic material on embankment stability in different reinforcement models.After simulation experiments, theory and numerical analysis,the main fruits acquired in this paper are as follows:1.Through full scale model experiment,researches have been made on displacement,stress,ultimate bearing capacity and sliding surface of reinforced embankment and non-reinforced embankment,results show that ultimate bearing capacity of reinforced embankment is 1.5 times higher than that of the non-reinforced one;horizontal displacement of reinforced embankment significantly decreases while vertical displacement changes little;additional internal stress becomes less under the same loading;and sliding surface of reinforced embankment is under that of the non-reinforced embankment.2.Adopting limit equilibrium method,this paper derives out calculation formulae for safety factor and optimal reinforcing position of reinforced high fill embankment by using horizontal slice method; improves the application of common slicing method in reinforcement embankment and proposes relevant calculation formula.These results have applicable value and guiding significance in design and construction of reinforcement engineering.3.Research on numerical simulation of reinforced high embankment shows that reinforcement technology can prevent the appearance of excessive uneven settlement in high fill embankment,inhibit lateral displacement of slopes,enhance embankment bearing capacity,and increase its total strength and stability.4.Research on numerical simulation of reinforced belts shows that choosing geogrid of appropriate length can effectively control embankment deformation with little decreasing effect despite of excessive length;higher geotextile modulus yields more obvious reinforcing effect and in variable slope embankment,paving reinforcing material above and under variable slopes produces the most obvious reinforcing effect.
