A new type of microwave coagulation therapy instrument was introduced in this thesis, which operates at 2.45GHz and can output power ranging from 0 to 150 Watt. The injection of microwave energy into the tumor tissue can lead to the inevitable death of the tumor; the cancer can be cured ultimately. This approach is quite different with surgical treatment because of minor wound and other side effects.The basic principle of cancer therapy with microwave was introduced firstly, whose mechanism of microwave heating is inside-source heating, with such advantages as high thermal efficiency, high calefaction speed, even thermal field distribution and through death of the cancer cells.Based on above principle, an improved microwave coagulation therapy instrument was implemented. The combination of low-frequency electric circuit as well as the microwave technique has been employed in the implementation of this medical instrument. The implementation success of the microwave coagulation therapy instrument is definitely a platform of medical treatment of human caner with microwave energy.A large number of in-vitro coagulation experiment in porcine liver were carried out, the temperature field around the microwave radiator were measured. The higher input power and longer radiating time can cause larger coagulation area, and the coagulation shape approaches to be spheroid. These theoretical and experimental researches can be expected to provide helpful guidance for the further improvement of medical treatment instrument, of course, as well as clinical application in the near future.
