With the promotion of the automation level power plant and substation and the construction and development of the State Power Data net, in order to meet the developmental need of the requirements of the power system dispatch automation system, the usual power telecontrol system will be replaced by the network telecontrol system with the integration of computer, protection, control, network, and communication technology. This will eventually break the existing specialized division of profession and cause a revolution to the telecontrol system.The transmission system of power information plays vital role in the network telecontrol system. The network telecontrol system of power system must have the capability to support multiple protocols and the network communication. Therefore, this paper focuses on the technology to support more protocols and network communication based on Ethernet.Firstly, facing with existence of several telecontrol protocols in the telecontrol system, on the guidance of the object-oriented idea and the formalized description method based on semantic information model of the IEC61850 protocol, this thesis presents a generic approach to converse all the telecontrol protocols based on semantic information model. The researcher designs the protocol generic processing module using the Visual C++ Integrated Development Environment.Secondly, this thesis investigates the application of the Ethernet in power system, and implements the network communication module based on TCP/IP and UDP/IP protocol using Visual C++ integrated development environment on PC. Besides, the application of the embedded Ethernet in substation automation system has been studied and a new kind of implementation of embedded Ethernet based on hardware protocol stack is presented. Furthermore, the researcher designs the hardware and the software. As a result simple Ethernet protocol is implemented and the practicability of the hardware and software is proved.Finally, on the basis of the above-mentioned work, the researcher designs a program based on network communication to process all protocols, and accomplishes the interface design work of the software.
