With electricity market reforming, power plants changed to be company, which means that power plants are self-financing. It is necessary to maximize the benefits for them. The economical running of units has great impact on benefits of power plant. Therefore, the study of how to optimize the units operation of power plant has great significance for the improving of economic benefits of thermal power plant.First, this paper detaily analyzed the factors which can impact the coal consumption of thermal units. They mainly include the boiler efficiency, steam turbine thermal efficiency, pipeline efficiency and auxiliary power rate. The method of drawing coal consumption curve and the contains of unit commitment are given. An optimization model for load distribution between units is constructed and the corresponding solving algorithm is proposed.Then, according to the operating experience of Yunhe power plant, the measures for reducing coal consumption and auxiliary power rate is proposed. The method of small difference analysis is given to reduce the coal consumption and deal with the changes in coal of Yunhe power plant. In order to test the adaptability of non-circulating fluidized bed boiler for unmatched kinds of coal and research the experience and methods for boiler blended with anthracite, field test for the units of Yunhe power plant was conducted and the impacts caused by blended with anthracite on boiler economic indicators of Yunhe power plant are detaily analyzed. Through the study of field test data, the optimal ratio of blended with anthracite is proposed.Finally, the big instead of small and sliding pressure operating mode are described. Through field tests of Yunhe power plant on three operating mode which include the big instead of small, different loads and sliding pressure, the influence of units operating mode on comprehensive benefits of power plant is studied.This paper is a result of the theory researching and the actual operating and field test data analyzing. The actual operation experience of Yunhe power plant shows conclusions and measures proposed in this paper are reasonable, feasible and effective. They have great practicability on instruction of units operating for Yunhe and other power plants.
