With the development of the high-power IF Power, medium frequency induction melting furnaces are used more widely in the foundry industry. According to the different compensation mode of the inverter parts, IF power are divided into Parallel-inverter, Series-inverter and Series-parallel inverter.Based on the comparison of the practical application of parallel IF power inverter and series IF power inverter, we find that during the process of IF parallel power heating the metal, as the metal's permeability and electricresistivity have taken significant changes when the temperature climbs over the Curie point, the equivalent load resistance and inductance will also take great changes. This will lead to the changes of the load circuit resonant angular frequency and the output power. In addition, despite the work frequency of Parallel-power could automatically track the resonance frequency of the load circuit, however, when the load circuit output power changes, IF power will not maintain full power output in the whole smelting process. As a result, the longer the medium frequency induction furnace heats, the more power will be consumed by per unit, and the efficiency of the IF power supply will be lower. However, the series-parallel inverter power could maintain constant power factor and full power output in the process of heating liquid iron. Therefore, the series-parallel inverter power could not only save energy efficiently, but also get satisfied economic benefit.In this paper, the work conditions of two different forms of inverter power are deeply analyzed and studied. The reasons why the parallel power inverter can not output the whole power and the series-parallel power inverter can work with constant power factor are found. Research shows that, reasonable and appropriate selection of the series compensation capacitors and inductors can compensate the changes of load effectively in the smelting process.In order to reduce consumption and raise production efficiently, this article promotes the improvement of medium frequency induction furnace of parallel power inverters.
