The magnetically suspended micro-machined gyroscope,as a new micro-inertial device,has broad application prospect in consumption,industry,medical treatment and military region.The working mechanism of the magnetic suspended micro-machined gyroscope with suspended rotor is the conservation of angular momentum of a spinning rotor.In the paper,a novel design concept of a magnetically suspended spinning wheel gyro(MSSWG) is described The gyro design based on a novel,planar magnetic actuator and position sensor configuration with a gyro wheel that is rotated by a multi-phase electromagnetic spin motor.The working principle and characteristics of MSSWG are studied roundly.The researching content of the paper is as following:Firstly,the model of software design has been discussed detailed:such as rotation, stabilization,suspension and capacitive sensors.The rotation mechanism is simulated by switched reluctance motor model,which is based on the principal that flux always flow along the minimal reluctance path,radial stabilization is based on the novel stator winding,axial suspension is based on a planar electromagnet.Then the designs of gyro's main body and electromagnet are discussed;Secondly,the mathematical model of the MSSWG is discussed in detail,including the presence,inductances,radial force and torque.The theoretical analysis is the precondition of MSSWG design and controlling.Thirdly,finite element analysis software and experiment results are used to study the MSSWG characteristics:such as the relationships between magnetic flux,magnetic force and the rotational angle of the rotor;the relationship between the torque variation rules and the periodic motion of rotor;the influences of rotor angle,frequency and amplitude of phase current on inductances;the relationship between the magnetic flux density of stator poles and current.Forth,we also study the MSSWG stability characteristic respecting the magnetic field and inductances.Having designed a simple electromagnet and studied the relationship between magnetic flux density and current amplitude as well as suspension height.In all,this paper is basic design study of a novel magnetically suspended gyro.The model of MSSWG design and analysis has been established.Some design software about the MSSWG characteristic has been writed.These studies validate the theory analysis and will be helpful for the future works.
