The weight reduction technique is an important research content in the development of automatic weapon. Based on the same combat performance as the current assault rifle in service, a new kind of light weight rifle is studied. By innovative structure design and the appropriate material selection, the obvious effect of weight reduction is obtained.According to the three-dimensional model of this rifle, the pressure curve in guns and the pressure curve in gas chamber have been got, the forces and movement have been analyzed, the firing dynamics model has been built, and then the simulation has been carried out in the environment of ADAMS. By simulation, some dynamic parameters have been studied which have influence upon the gun, such as propellant gas port diameter, the spring stiffness, automatic mechanism weight etc. Based on the above simulations, the strength of key parts has been checked in FEA method to guarantee strength requirement.By the simulation of elastic ejection in the environment of ADAMS, the operation reliability of ejection mechanism and the movement of spent cartridge during ejection have been analyzed in detail and some dynamic parameters which have influence on ejection have been obtained. At last, some advice has been proposed to make the ejection efficiently and reliably.
