Spiral bevel gear is one of the most important mechanical transmission elements. Both movement and power can be transferred by spiral bevel gear at the same time and the transmission direction can be changed too. Spiral bevel gear transmission is characterized by steady, low-noise and high load capacity. Because of these advantages, spiral bevel gear drives are widely employed as transmission elements in fields like engineering machinery, aerospace, military affairs, metallurgy, mining, ship etc. Because of the exiting of non-conjugate, elastic deformation and manufacture error, transmission error can not be avoided in spiral bevel gear transmission. Transmission error is the main fact which influences the dynamic property, tooth meshing quality, vibration and noise of spiral bevel gear transmission.On the basis of local synthesis theory, active design method of spiral bevel gear which pre-establish the transmission error curve is researched in this thesis. Blank data and gear machine-tool settings are known. After first derivative of ratio of roll, direction angle of contact path and major axis radius of contact ellipse are predestined, pinion machine-tool settings can be calculated according to differential geometry and meshing theory. The gear and pinion which designed this way can satisfy the pre-established transmission error in theory. This is meaningful to the control of transmission characters of spiral bevel gears.Based on the active design method of spiral bevel gear, alignment error sensitivity factor is introduced to measure the influence of alignment errors to spiral bevel gear drivers. Active design method of spiral bevel gear was improved by considering alignment error sensitivity of calculating point. The Alignment error sensitivity is deduced by pace of 26.68% in average by choosing proper position of mean contact point compared with the original method.The correction of active design method is proved by tooth contact analysis. Traditional tooth contact analysis method is improved by considering the influence of alignment errors. Influences of alignment errors and machine-tool setting errors on tooth contact characters are researched respectively according to the improved TCA and active design method of spiral bevel gear. And Active design method of spiral bevel gear which considering the influence of alignment errors in advance was researched in this paper too.Encapsulation work of active design method of spiral bevel gear has been done by VB-MATLAB mixed programming.
