Crawler-mounted equipment works in the very bad condition, which could cause serious vibration. Designing and installing viscoelastic damper on running mechanism would be a most effective way to reduce the vibration and noise. But the viscoelastic damper is the material which has bad heat emission and worse resistance to heat. Thus it surfers from fatigue failure if the temperature is out of upper limited. Accordingly its performance and lifetime falls down. So it is necessary to research the temperature field when the equipment is working.Finite Element Analysis(FEA) was used for calculation in the paper. The analysis was in relation to 301kW(410 hp) crawler-mounted bulldozer whose basic frequency is from 3 Hz to 8Hz. 2D mechanical model had been built under assumed condition. Dynamic response was simulated with Finite element method(FEM) in the condition of loosening, ground-penetrating and dozing. High temperature field predicted was located in the contact area of up and down viscoelastic damper.The temperature field was computed with mechanical result (the heat generation ratio loaded on the model) and terminal condition. High temperature field was the same as prediction above. Parameters which impact the temperature were varied so as to get different fields. Fitted linear regression equations and line were also given for convenience. The suggestion and assumption of heat emission was offered.Dynamic test about loss factor of rubber used on viscoelastic damper had been operated. Loss factor of rubber material had been selected in the light of computing real demand. The temperature field test programme had been drafted so as to the further research. The result and method of temperature field on viscoelastic damper had been provided further studies on its performance.
